Welcome to the T-Fork Precision Long Range Shooting School. We specialize in extending your range and increasing your odds in the field! We are conveniently located near Mobeetie Texas just one hour east of Rick Husband International Airport in Amarillo Texas. Being located on the High Plains of the Texas Panhandle will give you a unique opportunity to learn wind readings and effects of a drastic climate changing environment.
T-Fork Long Range Shooting Complex
At the T-Fork Long Range Shooting Complex we have all the shooting tools and comforts to make this one of the most educational and enjoyable shooting schools in the country for hunters wanting to extend their range to increase their odds. Weather is of no concern here as our unique complex includes a climate controlled indoor training and shooting facility with outdoor targets on 100 yd increments from 300-1300 yards. Every target is also illuminated with the ability to shoot in complete darkness as well!
Lodging is provided onsite within walking distance of the training complex. We have 3 bedrooms, all equipped with 2 double beds in each, 1 bathroom, and 1 living/conference area giving us the ability to sleep up to 6 friends. Meals are also provided each day with snacks, coffee, etc.
Itinerary for our Long-Range Shooting Instruction
We start on Friday evenings with a meet and greet, rifle setup, check elevation availability, and chronograph your rifle’s velocity using a state of the art, Lab Radar. Saturday includes target engagement and data collection to 1,300 yards. We will be zeroing the arc of your projectile in 100-yard increments, up to 1,300 yards, by trueing the ballistic coefficient and stability factors of your actual ammunition.
Also, you will learn to collect data and proper elevation & windage adjustments with the help we provide. You will be learning the true arc of your projectile down range for more precise and ethical harvests. While at our range, you will gain a better understanding of proper equipment, mirage effects, reading wind in the field, spin drift, ballistic coefficients, Coriolis effects, proper bullets, and reticle ranging. You then will be shooting 1,000 yards quickly and effectively on your next big game hunt.
You will find your knowledge easily replicated for any of your future hunting calibers. We recommend learn with short action calibers. as we most commonly see 6.5 Creedmoor, 308, 6 Creedmoor or other common short action calibers. Magnum calibers are not recommended due to the extended target engagements that can be quite brutal for your learning experience. We recommend bringing your favorite hunting rifle and start the process with one of our rentals to learn the course for a maximized learning experience.
On Sunday, we are happy to assist those of you with your hunting rifles to zero your projectile’s arc and set your equipment up for your next long-range hunt. You will need approximately 40 rounds of your hunting ammo to confirm that we have your hunting rifle’s arc corrected. Once we accomplish this, your hunting rifle can be ready for your next hunt up to 1,000 yards and beyond.
Sunday is also a great time for a little friendly competitive long-range shooting amongst the guests. Throughout the weekend we include games and challenges for a fun way to test your D.O.P.E. (Data Obtained from Previous Engagements) book. We have found this to be a great tool to enjoy yourself and build your confidence in your abilities all the while producing great results.
Long Range Shooting Instructor
Tye Sims has spent a large portion of his life harvesting multiple big game species all over the world at various extended ranges. To his credit, over the last 30+ years of hunting, Tye has harvested well over 100 species of large game animals on 3 continents and 4 countries with multiple harvest over 1,400 yards! He and his staff are very passionate about what they do and sharing their various hunting accomplishments with other hunters and sportsmen.
While abroad, Tye has brought home a wealth of knowledge that he wants to share with each of you that he has obtained from some of the best guides, shooters, marksmen, and professional hunters from around the world. Tye and his staff would love to assist each of you in a better understanding of what it takes to be successful in real world scenarios to 1,000 yards and beyond. Most of all, Tye wants you to be successful and ethical in the event that your next hunting trip requires an extended range harvest.
REQUIRED SUPPRESSION EQUIPMENT
During your visit to T Fork Outfitters and Long Range LLC., you will be required to have a suppressed rifle or a suppressor will be available to rent. Your rifle will need 5/8” x 24 threads available to receive a suppressor to shoot inside our climate-controlled shooting facility. We require this for the hearing safety and enjoyment for everyone shooting inside our facility. If you do not have the capability to attach a suppressor, rifle rentals are available for an additional fee.
